We're doing our best to stop oil imports by returning to

STEAM!!!

With more than six
years of restoration
work behind us,
American Locomotive
Company (ALCo) 2-8-0
#18 returned to active
service...

MAY 24TH, 2008

Our passenger excursions are also powered by one of our two World War II era diesel-electric locomotives, which are also used weekly in our freight operations. Both engines were built by General Electric at their locomotive facility in Erie, PA. The 44-ton centercab No111 was built in 1947 and delivered new to the Arcade & Attica Railroad. No112 was built in 1945 and delivered to the United States Navy. The A&A purchased the engine from the City of Colorado Springs Railroad in 1988 to supplement the ailing engine No111. Today, No111 has been returned to full operation.

We're Ready .......

2009-08-09 le ann phillips and family what a fabulous trip. it was greay and blue weekend. we were entertained even before we got on the train with the clothing worn by so many of the re enactors. and once we were on the train the rest of the trip was non stop enjoyment for the five of us aged 3 to 53. constant music of the time period from accordian strollers to trios of strumming. blue and grey uniformed men were always around with dialog bantering back and forth. when my daughter was asked to watch a ladies luggage, we knew we were in for fun. the battle that ensued from the train to the field was not just a quick encounter. it lasted 15 or twenty minutes it seemed, and not only on the way to currier but on the way BACK as well. thank you so much for such a fulfilling afternoon. my 3 year old granddaughter was asked if she enjoyed the trip more than her thomas the train experience, and with a big smile she said YES. that says it all...
2009-08-01 Michael & Benjamin Halsaver I took my son Benjamin for a ride on the train today. We had a wonderful time. It was almost 36 years ago to this day when my grandfather took me for my first time on the A&A Railroad.
2009-08-01 Teresa Mazuchowski This was the best night of my life. My husband, mom and myself all took the murder mystery ride. Well let me tell you it was GRRREAATTT!!!My mom is handicapped when they realized she could not get back on the train the moved the whole train to her, the whole staff was wonderful. Thank you Trudy and George for the help. As for the Community Theater they were all wonderful...Everyone made it really feel like it was 1920...
2009-07-25 James Murphy I've been visiting the railroad since 1976 and it's never been better than it is today. In the past two years, alone, the improvements I've seen have been astounding, including restored steam (No. 18 looks great), wonderful (and easily accessible)static displays, repainted and re-stenciled coaches, a covered gondola, the Dunlop switcher brought back, a steam double-header special...is there no end? Add to it all a wonderfully friendly and courteous management, staff and crew, beautiful countryside and a great little town and the Arcade & Attica is a winning ticket. *****

2009-05-24 Ken Chriscaden I was there to see & ride the train pulled by # 18 again, after a lengthy overhaul. I got some good photos & video footage that day. It was great to see # 18 in operation again. I have ridden the train almost every year since 1963. I'd like to see # 18 pulling a freight train too.
