We're doing our best to stop oil imports by returning to
STEAM!!!
With more than six
years of restoration
work behind us,
American Locomotive
Company (ALCo) 2-8-0
#18 returned to active
service...
MAY 24TH, 2008
Our passenger excursions are also powered by one of our two World War II era diesel-electric locomotives, which are also used weekly in our freight operations. Both engines were built by General Electric at their locomotive facility in Erie, PA. The 44-ton centercab No111 was built in 1947 and delivered new to the Arcade & Attica Railroad. No112 was built in 1945 and delivered to the United States Navy. The A&A purchased the engine from the City of Colorado Springs Railroad in 1988 to supplement the ailing engine No111. Today, No111 has been returned to full operation.
We're Ready .......

this was our millionth time on the train! we are locals so we come ride the train as much as our pocket book will allow....at least 4-6 times a summer. even if we cant ride it, we can watch the train from the bank parking lot or hear the whistle from my mother-in-law's house. there is nothing like a ride on the A & A railway!!!

As a native of Yorkshire, my wife and I were back in the area for a family function. So, of course we had to ride the train! We had a great time and I spent some time talking to Mr. Eric talking about the A & A history and catching up with other local matters (his daughter and I went to Pioneer together).
We're looking forward to the new season with #18 back at the lead and hopefully we'll be able to get back for a trip or two. We currently reside near Cincinnati, OH.

As a native of Corfu, NY growing up in the 60s and 70s, my father took us every year to ride the excursions behind either No. 14 or 18. I now reside outside Nashville, Tennessee and I take my sons nearly each year. I have followed the railroad for a long time and am glad to see investment in restoring their equipment and structures. I also am excited about the return of No. 18! Keep up the good work and I look forward to riding in 2008!

I love riding the railroad at any time of year. Civil War Days in '06 was the last time I rode as a simple passenger.
I look forward to hearing the whistle again in May!

Not sure of the day in July, But the last I rode was the day after my 20 year class reunion in Lancaster,NY. I took my daughter who was 20 at the time. I remember her saying at first that this was a muldane idea. But, after the ride, she said she really enjoyed it, and wanted to do this again in the future when she had kids. Well, as of today, June 10, 2009 we are planning on a July 5, 2009 run with my wife, my daughter Jen and her husband and three grandkids. The first time I rode was back in 1965 or 1966. My Grandfather who worked for Eastern Seaboard Railroad in Virgina and Flordia came up every year from Jacksonville, and we would go ride The A&A Railroad. So, when we ride on July 5th this year, we will have the 5th Generation of Turlington's to have enjoyed this train. I can't wait to get all sooty again.
